A thief has distracted an elderly man in Stanley Common in order to steal cash from him.
Sometime between 6.20pm and 7.20pm on Thursday 17 June, a man knocked on the door of a house in Hayeswood Road and began to ask the 85-year-old homeowner questions about coronavirus forms, which he declined to sign.
The man asked to come in and have a glass of water and the victim let him in. While he was getting the man of glass of water, the man took some cash and bank cards before leaving.
The man is described as white, in his mid-20s and with dark hair. He wore a dark baseball cap and a black coat with a thick yellow stripe down the arm.
