Officers are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Derby city centre that left a man with serious injuries.
The collision happened on St Alkmund’s Way, close to BBC Radio Derby, just after 9pm on New Year’s Eve.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was left with serious injuries, including a fractured spine after hitting the windscreen and being thrown into the air. He is now recovering at home.
The car that hit him, which was travelling from westbound towards Friar Gate, did not stop and drove off at speed toward Stafford Street.
Officers have been following a number of lines of enquiry since the incident and are now appealing for help identifying the vehicle involved. It is likely that the car would have had significant damage following the collision.
