Friar Gate remains closed this morning after a serious collision in Derby city centre in the early hours.
A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the collision between a pedestrian and a car close to Fat Cats bar at around 1.30am today (18 May).
He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Two people, a 19-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been taken into police custody.
Friar Gate is closed between the junctions of Stafford Street and Curzon Street – with no access from George Street – the road is likely to remain closed for some time whilst collision investigation work takes place.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the force using any of the below methods with reference 42-180522:
