Officers are appealing for the public’s help after a reported serious sexual assault in a Derby suburb.

The incident took place at around midnight on 22 August in Chain Lane, Littleover, and saw the victim, a teenage girl, attacked and sexually assaulted by a man.

The man, who was driving a dark coloured car, had initially asked her for directions to the nearest petrol station before getting out of the car and assaulting her.

Since the incident CCTV has been checked in the local area, however, officers are now asking for anyone with CCTV in the following streets in the Littleover area to secure any footage between 11.10pm on 21 August to 12.45am on 22 August:

  • BURTON ROAD – from the junction with Horwood Avenue and the roundabout with Chain Lane
  • A5111- between Arlington Road and Farley Road
  • CHAIN LANE
  • SOUTH AVENUE – between Burton Road and Beech Walk
  • LIME WALK
  • BEECH WALK
  • PARK PLANE – between Shaldon Drive and Burton Road
  • HEATH AVENUE
  • WADE AVENUE
  • WADE STREET
  • EASTWOOD DRIVE – between Burton Road and Littleover Tennis Club
  • MIDDLETON AVENUE – to the junction of Bretton Avenue
  • THORNHILL ROAD
  • SHEPHERD STREET – to the White Swan
  • PARK DRIVE
  • LAWN HEADS AVENUE – to the roundabout at Crich Circle
  • PASTURES HILL – From Burton Road to Coppicewood Drive
  • CLOUDWOOD CLOSE
  • NEWCREST CLOSE
  • GREENWAY DRIVE
  • GOLF CLOSE
  • DOVESTONE GARDENS
  • KEATS AVENUE – to Derby Minibus and Cars
  • DEAN CLOSE
  • ELMS AVENUE

As well as CCTV officers are also appealing for the any drivers who were in the Chain Lane and surrounding area at around the time of the incident and may have dashcam footage useful to the investigation.

Officers are also asking for the public’s help to trace the vehicle that the man was driving, a dark coloured five door car which may have been left parked in the Littleover area since the incident.

Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone else who may have been approached by anyone in the area prior to the incident that evening.

A man was arrested a short time later in Burton Road and he has since been charged in connection with the incident.

Anyone who is able to assist the investigation is asked to contact the force using any of the below methods, including reference 23*520464:
