Teenager arrested after man assaulted in Sawley

A teenager has been arrested after a man was assaulted in Sawley.

The incident took place at Sawley Park, near the Medical Centre, at around 6pm yesterday (5 September) and saw the victim, a man in his 20s, assaulted by a group of teenagers.

The man was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He currently remains in hospital; however, he is expected to make a full recovery.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the assault and there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days; however, it is understood to be an isolated incident.

A 15-year-old boy from the Long Eaton area was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on police bail.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, in particular anyone who may have footage of the assault or the moments before or after.
