As we approach Christmas party season, we’d like to raise awareness around being made to feel guilty for going out.
A healthy relationship has a bit of distance.
It is good to spend a bit of time away from your partner for a night out with friends, family or colleagues, without the fear of returning home to them being angry or jealous.
Comments like ‘won’t you miss me?’ ‘wouldn’t you prefer a night in just us?’ or ‘I bet you pull without me there’ will plant feelings of doubt and guilt in a person’s mind.
If you are made to feel guilty for heading on a night out, this may be a red flag your partner is showing signs of controlling behaviour.
