We've created a new guide with all the need-to-know details of the latest scams.
Created by our Fraud Protect Team, ‘Your essential guide to help prevent fraud’ covers a variety of scams that are reported to us, including doorstep scams, romance fraud and scams that take place through online messaging applications like WhatsApp.
The guide also features Claude, the face of our new fraud-fighting campaign. Claude pops up throughout the book to remind you to Stop. Think. Tell.
Fraud Protect Officer Tammy Barnes explained more: “If you were to remember only one piece of advice from this guide, make it Stop. Think. Tell.
“By taking a moment to stop and think before giving someone your details or money, or before clicking a link, you could be saving yourself the turmoil and stress, and financial loss, that comes with being a victim of fraud.
“Telling someone is also important, whether it’s reporting it to us or Action Fraud. If you think you’ve been a victim we can offer support. Or, if you’ve followed our advice and avoided the scam, by reporting it to Action Fraud you can help to build a bigger picture.”
Paper copies of the fraud booklet can also be requested by emailing the Fraud team.
Please take the time to share this guide with friends and family members, people of all ages and backgrounds can be targeted by scams but by following the advice of Stop. Think. Tell. you can help us to #SockItToTheScammers.
