The fantastic work that Response officers do every single day is set to be celebrated during a national week of action.
These officers are the first port of call for emergencies in Derbyshire. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, they attend incidents, investigate crimes and provide a visible police presence.
Assistant Chief Constable Michelle Shooter said: “This week serves as an opportunity to highlight the incredible work that our Response teams do. If you ever find yourself in the position of needing help from the police quickly, it is likely to be our response officers who will be there first.
“At a moment’s notice, they attend a wide variety of incidents to keep Derbyshire safe, support victims, and bring those responsible for crime to justice.
“This type of work can be very challenging, which is why this week also has a focus on officers’ wellbeing. We’re constantly reviewing the challenges our officers face and looking to see how we can support them further, as well as raising awareness of the support services that are available.
"It’s fantastic that this role is being celebrated throughout the country. Being skilled at working on Response is a true talent and specialism, and it’s vital that we recognise our dedicated officers in Derbyshire.”
Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster said: “Response Policing Week of Action is an annual awareness event highlighting the difficult and high-risk role Response Officers undertake.
“These officers serve on the frontline and are the first to attend serious incidents including road traffic fatalities, homicides, burglaries, robberies and serious assaults. Alongside catching suspects and protecting the public, they provide reassurance to the public. It can be an extremely challenging role and officers undergo intense training to prepare them for duty.
“As we mark Response Policing Week of Action, I would like to thank every one of our response officers for their commitment to keeping Derbyshire safe. As frontline officers, these officers make many sacrifices and work long hours to protect our communities and I would like to give them recognition and praise.”
Throughout this week, we will be highlighting the work of Derbyshire response officers on our social media channels. Look out for further details on our Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.
