Motorcycle riders are among the most analytical road users, and the art of reading the road can make for a better and safer ride.
Even the most seasoned of riders can become complacent, but knowing your surroundings and keeping your skills crisp is one of the best ways to keep yourself safe on the roads.
Unfortunately, Derbyshire sees a high percentage of collisions involving motorcycles, because our rural landscape can become a magnet for riders to enjoy and experience.
We all have a responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe when we take to the roads. As a driver you should always be considerate of those who are more at risk, by driving and overtaking responsibly.
As a motorbike rider or cyclist, it’s really important you know the dangers and ride safely, reading the conditions of the road and being aware of your surroundings.
If you’re heading out on your bike this week, ask yourself if you can better your skills and become a more proficient rider.
Our BikeSafe course gives you the opportunity to develop these skills in person. Visit our Derbyshire BikeSafe page and join one of our courses where you'll have an experienced police rider give you the top tips and additional skills needed to refine your skill.
