Officers have been out and about across the county this week to highlight the year-round work we do to prevent and tackle knife crime.
As part of the national Sceptre week of intensification, officers from our Safer Neighbourhood Teams have been conducting knife sweeps, speaking to young people in schools and listening to concerns from residents through engagement events in town centres – to name some of the activity that has taken place.
Chief Inspector Mike Sisman, from the force’s Partnerships and Prevention team, said: “It is fantastic to see this extremely important work being highlighted during this week of action – work which, of course, continues all throughout the year.
“From knife sweeps, to heading into schools and speaking to residents in town centres and marketplaces, our local officers have been covering every angle and making sure you have the information and confidence you need to speak to us about any concerns.
“We will never become complacent when it comes to knife crime and will always put a focus on prevention and working together with partners. This way, we are making sure that, as far as possible, we are getting the right support and information to the right people.
“Thank you to everyone who has spoken to our officers out and about so far – and thank you to our officers for being relentless as ever in keeping our knife crime out of Derbyshire.”
