As we head into Freshers’ Fortnight in Derby, we’re sharing a few tips to help new students understand how to stay safe, protect their property, and feel at home.
Starting university can be an exciting experience, but it can also feel challenging and hard to navigate. It’s natural to take a little time to settle in and adjust to student life.
We want to encourage you to get to know your new area. You’re in a new place with new people, so need to know your surroundings.
Start with your halls – make sure you know where to find the laundry room, reception, lecture theatres, somewhere to eat and so on. Then move on to your wider surroundings.
Think about how you can get into town for a night out and work out how’ll you’ll get back to your accommodation.
