A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after allegedly travelling back from the south-west under the influence of Class A drugs.
The 26-year-old from Alfreton was stopped by officers yesterday afternoon (25 August) at J28 of the M1, after they were given reason to believe she was driving under the influence.
The woman tested positive in a roadside drug test and was arrested.
She provided a sample of blood in custody and this will be sent off for analysis to confirm the level of any substances present.
The woman has been released under investigation, pending these further enquiries.
Throughout this week officers will be out on patrol targeting and educating irresponsible and dangerous drivers in a bid to reduce fatal and serious collisions. This work forms part of a week-long national campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of drug and drink-driving.
