PCSOs Julie Allen and Sharron Tassi have started their final shift before a well-deserved Christmas break.
The duo will be out across Ilkeston today, interacting with the public and chatting with businesses to ensure they are ready for Christmas.
PCSO Allen said: “It definitely feels more Christmassy this year than last year as obviously we aren’t in lockdown this time. Spirits are higher this year, last year was real doom and gloom and families weren’t getting together so it has been really nice to see people getting excited.
“This year I am cooking dinner for the whole family which I didn’t get to do last year. I can’t wait to spend some time with my family and grandchildren, last year it wasn’t possible and this year it is, so that is everything to me.”
PCSO Tassi said: “As PCSOs we don’t work on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, only Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. The lead up to Christmas is usually a bit quieter than New Year celebrations, people are out to enjoy themselves and enjoy fuddles and seeing family.
“This year I will – like many others – be spending my Christmas with my family. I’ll be seeing both of my children and all of my grandchildren, and to me that is the main thing that Christmas is all about.
“We’d like to wish everyone a happy and health Christmas and new year. Stay safe and look after each other.”
