Inspector Clare Preston-Davies has joined the policing team at Derby North to lead a team of Response officers and the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Chaddesden, Spondon, Oakwood, Mackworth, Allestree and Derby city centre.
With almost 20 years of service, Inspector Preston-Davies has joined the force from over the border at Nottinghamshire Police.
She started her career as a frontline officer policing Nottingham city centre, before moving to the force’s Criminal Investigation Department. Since then, she has worked in the Serious Organised Crime Team, the Sexual Exploitation Unit, and has experience of working as a Firearms Commander.
Inspector Preston-Davies said: “I am very lucky to have been a part of so many amazing teams that have each equipped me with the knowledge I now have to bring to Derbyshire.
“Derby is a great place to live, I am really looking forward to getting out in the new year to meet those that live in my area. I will be joining my officers out and about on patrol and keeping Derby North a safe place to live, work and visit.”
In the coming weeks, Inspector Preston-Davies will be overseeing a number of policing operations, including Operation Wintershield and Operation Snowflake.
Inspector Preston-Davies added: “Op Snowflake has seen officers out speaking to business owners in Derby city centre, offering words of advice and proactively tackling shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
“This is really important as people visit the town to do their Christmas shopping. We want them to feel safe when doing so, and to have fun so that they come back to visit again.”
She added: “I’d like to wish a Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating, and remind you that if you need us over the festive season, you can contact us in all of the usual ways."
