Join us as a contact management operator and you’ll be a key member of the team that handles the majority of incoming contact for Derbyshire Constabulary.
Not only will you be providing a first-class service to the public, you’ll also interact with a vast array of people, many may have never contacted the police before.
Put simply, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference when it truly matters.
Our operators are assigned to one of two main areas, contact handling and radio despatch.
Lynne Swallow (pictured) is one of our senior operators, she said: "To anyone who is considering joining us, I would recommend it, but you do have to be quite a tough individual.
"The hours are long and demanding and some of the jobs that that you deal with are horrendous. You are exposed to sides of life that you have never seen before.
"On the flip side, we have a great team camaraderie and I get huge satisfaction from knowing I’ve done my best to help people. For me, this far outweighs any negatives.”
Following your basic training, you will be allocated to one element initially, however you will receive ongoing training to become multi-skilled in both areas as your career progresses.
You need to be flexible, as we work a 12 hour, four-on, four-off pattern, including overnight, at weekends and some bank holidays.
