Lucy Marriott is a force control room operator and has recently become a special constable, where she has already gained valuable frontline experience and transferable skills which have helped within her Contact Management role.
“The job is mind blowing, staff members are incredibly knowledgeable and will always provide support and advice where they can.
"Our focus is protecting the public – that’s what we are all here to do. No two days are the same. We could be running high-risk missing people incidents, fatal accidents - and then someone calls us for the bus timetable! We are constantly busy managing lists with heightened risk attached.
"We wouldn’t be able to run the job without hard working police officers on the front line that attend these immediate blue light response incidents, but Contact Management really is the front face of policing.”
Lucy doesn't hesitate in recommending the role: “There are so many benefits to the job, for example the shift pattern is brilliant working 4 on and 4 off. The shifts are long, tiring and demanding but with support from colleagues - it makes it that little bit easier.”
