This Father’s Day, we’re sending our best wishes to all the father figures out there. We know the day can be great for some and tough for others.
It isn’t easy to ask for help, and it can be even harder for those who feel like they must stay strong at all times. This is something which can affect both our officers and staff, and many of the people we come into contact with.
We all need a bit of support when responding to life’s challenges, and there are plenty of resources out there to help. The team at the charity Movember are passionate in their support for men’s health.
Their contacts page is a good one to bookmark, it outlines where to go for mental health help, family and relationship services, support for young people, financial guidance and more. You can access this page here: Movember - Men's Health
Being a parent can be both emotionally rewarding and exhausting – and no one gets it right all the time. This month, Movember launched Family Man, a free online parenting programme, designed for parents of children aged between two and eight. It uses the latest parenting strategies that support happier homes and better mental health. Research shows that improvements in child behaviour can be seen within as little as two weeks. Find out more about Family Man here: Family Man - Movember
And finally, Movember’s conversations tool gives practical guidance on how to support men who might be struggling. Friends, family and colleagues can all use this interactive tool to gain the skills and confidence to approach challenging conversations with the men in their lives. Find the Movember conversations tool here: Movember Conversations
Whatever the day looks like for you, we’ll be here for those who need us, on Father’s Day and every day.
