New PCSO's reflect on their first week

Our latest cohort of PCSO’s completed their first set of shifts last week, across a range of locations in Derbyshire.

They hit the ground running and all had a busy week getting stuck in!

Some of the new recruits were tasked with going into schools and giving presentations, others have been out in their new communities building relationships during foot patrols, and many attended vulnerable people to make sure they were safe.

Two of our PCSO’s who are assigned to the Erewash area and have updated us on their first week’s thoughts.

PCSO Hawksworth said “I’m extremely excited to be joining the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Erewash. From my previous career I have gained a large amount of experience engaging with the local community and other key stakeholders to help identify and deliver solutions to achieve common goals. My plan is to put this experience to work in my new role and to help make Erewash a safer place for all.”

PCSO Cooper added, “I’m really excited to be joining the neighbourhood police team in Erewash, doing my bit to help keep the local area safer. My priority is to understand the issues that matter to your wonderful community, helping to solve problems and to help as much as I can.”

We’re sure that our communities in Erewash will welcome their latest PCSO’s and say hello to them when they’re out.

PCSO Gregson has joined the Chaddesden neighbourhood policing team. He’s enjoyed getting stuck into his new routine and added. “I'm really enjoying my second week so far, the shifts are very varied and you never know what you're going to be doing on the day. We have been to a school and delivered bullying presentations, we've responded to neighbour disputes, and patrolled round our local area to engage with the community and attend to anything that requires attention.

"I'm looking forward to the future in this new role!"

We wish all of our PCSO’s the best of luck in their new communities and can’t wait to hear about more of the work that they do.

Our recruitment is currently open for new PCSO’s, if you’d like to find out more or apply, visit Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) :: Derbyshire Constabulary Jobs.
