One of our officers has been assaulted while attempting to arrest a suspect in Chesterfield, one of four incidents where police were attacked in the last few days.
The incident happened on Shakespeare Street in Holmewood, Chesterfield, just before 5am on Monday 16 January.
The officer involved had arrived at the address to arrest the suspect in connection with an allegation of assault earlier that same morning but while detaining him, the officer was headbutted.
The man, in his 20s, was arrested and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
In a separate incident, in Derby, two of our officers were allegedly kicked by a woman while trying to detain her.
Officers had been called to a report of an incident on Drage Street in Derby at 4.45am on Thursday 19 January.
Georgina Roughan, from Drage Street in Derby, is accused of kicking two officers and making threats of violence towards them.
The 36-year-old has been charged with being Drunk and Disorderly and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, she’s been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening, abusive, or insulting words towards him.
Ryan Glanfield, of Shalfleet Drive in Derby, was arrested just before 6am on Tuesday 17 January on suspicion of making threats to kill. After he had been moved to Prime Parkway Police Station, he allegedly grabbed hold of a custody officer’s leg and threatened to kill police officers.
He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 18 January and was remanded in custody.
In another incident, a man, in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of using homophobic language towards a police officer.
Officers were called to a report of an assault at an address on Copperleaf Close in Derby just before 2.30pm on Thursday 12 January.
The man then used homophobic language towards an officer and was arrested for a public order offence. He’s since been bailed pending further enquiries.
