We'd like to wish a very happy Father's Day to all the father figures across Derbyshire and within the policing family, and especially to all the dads and grandads that may be working today and won't get to spend the day with their families.
PC Ian Jackson currently works on the Incident Management Team in the control room, but has spent time on Response and the Safer Neighbourhood Teams, attending and dealing with a wide range of incidents.
His dad, Barry, has been a huge influence and support, having had a long career with Derbyshire Constabulary as a firearms officer and roads policing officer himself before retiring.
Ian said: "I grew up around policing and his commitment to his job. Despite the demands though, he was always there for us and would always make sure he made up for the time he had to spend at work - even if it meant adjusting birthday and Christmas celebrations.
"I was always super proud of him and how he was helping people. I saw how much people respected him and the positive impact he had, even on those he'd arrested, and I really looked up to him.
"Now I do the same job, I understand the pressures and expectations. He has been a great support to me when I've faced challenges and always offered an ear when I was finding anything difficult at work."
Thank you for everything, dads.
