We’d like to wish everyone celebrating, a very happy Pride Month.
Pride Month is an important event for many people across Derbyshire, who will be taking the time to celebrate who they are.
Many areas across the country will be celebrating Pride during the month with parades and celebration. For our Derbyshire communities, the celebrations will continue later into the year, with our local Pride events taking place across the summer months.
Andy Sudbury, co-chair of Derbyshire’s LGBT+ support network, said “Pride Month is a way for our broad LGBT+ community to celebrate how far we have come, and further recognise that we still have a long way to go.
“LGBT+ rights around the world are in constant change, even in the UK. We have been lucky to have a great number of rights in law to align us with the rest of the population. But these rights are still in the spotlight and can be taken away at any time, making it important to continue the support for our LGBT+ communities.”
