On Saturday Derby Pride took place at Markeaton Park.
Derby Pride is always a popular and enjoyable event, and we hope that everyone who joined the celebrations had a fantastic time.
Both plain clothes and uniform officers worked the event to ensure it remained peaceful and safe.
Chief Constable Rachel Swann said, “Derby Pride is the last of the Pride events within Derbyshire and always has a fantastic atmosphere.
“We hope that our work during events such as Pride helps to build trust and confidence between the police and LGBTQ+ community. We know this trust has been tainted by historic events and we want our relationship with the community to continue to improve.
“I recognise that the LGBTQ+ communities have been affected in the past due to police actions and practice enforcing historical laws that were in place and we know this damaged their confidence in policing.
“Within Derbyshire, community policing is at the heart of what we do. We continue to work hard to ensure that all of our communities have trust and confidence in us and we strive to be a more reflective and inclusive service, that is representative of all communities, so that we can police more effectively.”
