Derbyshire’s rural residents now have a ‘one stop shop’ with everything they need to know to protect themselves against crime.
Giving advice on issues such as livestock worrying, wildfires and theft, the hub also has all the details of how to get further support from the agencies that are there to help you: Homepage - Derbyshire PARC (derbyshireruralcrimehub.org.uk)
Sergeant Chris Wilkinson, from Derbyshire Constabulary’s Rural Crime Team, said: “This hub has pulled together information from a host of organisations which are working together as part of the Derbyshire Partnership Against Rural Crime.
“The crimes that occur in rural communities are often unique to their situation and victims, so it makes sense to bring together all the advice and support in once place. Our police teams work hard to tackle rural crime, but there are things that people can do to make life harder for criminals, and by taking a moment to read through the advice you could save yourself money, time and stress.
“We’re looking forward to continuing our work within the partnership to ensure that our support to our rural communities is the best it can be.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster said: “We are fortunate to live in a safe county. However, our vast rural landscape exposes us to unique risks, and it is important that we do everything possible to protect these communities from criminals.
“Many rural crimes are preventable. The new hub will offer businesses and residents unparalleled information on protecting their property and livelihoods. It will also direct people to the correct channels for reporting crime to help build intelligence and bring more offenders to justice. For those who find themselves a victim of rural criminals, we will provide direct links to support providers ensure people receive the help they need to recover.
“We owe our rural communities the best possible policing service to keep them safe. This enhanced support is delivered alongside a whole raft of operational improvements that I’ve introduced over the last three years to ensure rural crime in Derbyshire is given the attention it deserves.”
