Our UpRight Christmas Toy Run is back on Saturday 14 December 2024!
This is our fifth toy run, with the goal to provide Christmas joy for the local charity, Safe and Sound.
Safe & Sound's aim is to raise awareness and education around exploitation and provide support and recovery to vulnerable young people and their families who suffer it.
This year's Toy Run will once again involve UpRight bikers leading a convoy of bikes from Long Eaton to the head offices of Safe & Sound in Darley Abbey Mill.
This is where we need help from our community!
As with previous years, we are asking for donations of gifts, which are greatly appreciated and directly help local vulnerable children. The majority of children and young people that Safe & Sound support are from 8 years old through to 18 years and are more often girls than boys.
The charity does a lot of craft work with the children and young people that they support, so any craft materials or cookie decorating kits would be fantastic. For the older children, gift vouchers for activities such as the cinema or bowling are also appreciated.
We kindly ask that any gifts donated that are wrapped, have what the gift is written in pencil on the tag so that it can be paired with the perfect child. Please bring your gifts to our meeting point in Long Eaton on the day so that they can be taken on the toy run.
We are also asking for bikers to attend this event to take part in the convoy, as the plan is to get as many bikes and bikers as possible to attend wearing Christmas fancy dress. We would like to see as many Santa’s, elves, or fairies as possible taking part, with the aim to draw as much attention as possible to Safe & Sound.
The convoy will leave Andrew Paul Upholstery on Fields Farm Road, Long Eaton at 12pm, though we expect to see bikers arrive from 10am. We will then ride with police escort to the Safe & Sound Head Office in Darley Abbey.
