Man charged with murder of two people

A man has been charged with murdering two people after a woman and a man were found dead at a house in Duffield in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Rhys Hancock, 39, of Portland Street, Etwall will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Friday 3 January).

Helen Hancock (nee Almey), 39, from Duffield, and Martin Griffiths, 48, from Derby, were found at a property in New Zealand Lane, Duffield, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Mrs Hancock and Mr Griffiths were found by officers with fatal stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
