Officers have charged a man with arson following a fire at a house in Charnwood Crescent, in Newton, near Alfreton, on 4 February.
Leyton Metters, of Charnwood Crescent, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and arson with intent to endanger life after allegedly setting a fire at around 10.30am.
The 32-year-old appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 6 February, where he was remanded in prison and will next appear at Derby Crown Court on 8 March.
