House fire at Cromford not believed to be suspicious

An investigation into a fire at a house in Cromford at the weekend has found that it was not started deliberately.

We were alerted to the incident on Willersley Lane at around 3.20am on Saturday 14 January.

A 91-year-old woman died following the fire and her family are aware. Our thoughts continue to be with them at this time.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and officers are now preparing a file for the coroner.

Willersley Lane has now fully reopened, after being closed for a while to allow for the property to be made safe and for an investigation to take place.
