Thousands of people will be heading to the Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend with the respective police forces in those areas gearing up for a busy few days.
And just a few weeks ago it was the turn of officers in Derbyshire to look after all those enjoying the festival fun as the annual Y Not Festival took place in the county.
The event, held near Pikehall, once again proved a huge success with festival goers enjoying headline sets from Snow Patrol, Jamie T and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, as well as a huge range of other artists and plenty of other fun and activities.
We worked in partnership with the festival’s organisers, security teams and other agencies in the lead up to, during and after the event, to make sure that all those who went along had a safe and enjoyable time.
Uniformed officers patrolled the site and were supported by our drugs experts and licensing teams throughout the weekend, speaking to those who were there and offering advice and support to anyone who needed it.
Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Emma Aldred, Police Commander for the festival, said: “It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves at Y Not Festival in the sunshine.
“I’d like to thank all those who attended, the local community, Y Not organisers, partners and all the police officers and staff who helped make this year’s event a great success.
“I’m pleased to say that reported incidents and crimes were low again this year for an event of this size and nature.
“Hopefully all those who attended this year have now recovered from what was a busy but fun weekend and are looking forward to doing it all again in 2025.”
