Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Sinfin have a traced a witness seen on CCTV.
The male dog walker was seen on the footpath alongside Stenson Road, behind Berwick Drive, at around 4.50am on Saturday, 13 July.
The man, who is not a suspect in the case, has come forward and officers would like to thank members of the public for their help in tracing him.
Detectives would also like to thank the public for their assistance in the investigation so far. Officers have received information from several members of the public, including a report of a man acting suspiciously in the area close to where the attack took place.
Officers would like to ask anyone else who was in the area at the time of the incident – between 4am and 5am on Saturday 13 July - or anyone who has any information that they feel may assist the investigation, to contact us immediately.
The suspect is described as being Asian, approximately 5ft 7ins tall, of a large build and around 40 years old. He had thin dark hair on the side of his head with a bald top.
The victim told officers that he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark hooded jacket with the hood worn down. He was also said to smell strongly of cigarettes.
Following the attack the man ran off in the direction of Glenmore Drive.
A 42-year-old man from Derby has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
