28-year-old man charged with drug and firearms offences

A 28-year-old man has been charged with a number of alleged drug and firearms offences.
Marlon Dean was arrested by officers after a search of a black Audi A3 in a layby off the A516 Etwall Road on Monday, 3 November found a loaded handgun, a lock knife and a quantity of suspected cannabis. A search of Mr Dean at the scene also found a substantial amount of cash.
After his arrest, a further search of Mr Dean, of no fixed abode, found quantities of suspected heroin and cocaine.
He was subsequently charged with:
Possession of a firearm
Possession of prohibited ammunition
Possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug
Possession of a Class B controlled drug
Possession of a knife in a public place
Possession of criminal property
He was remanded in custody and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 4 November where he was remanded to prison and will next appear at Derby Crown Court on 2 December.
