Officers have charged a man with drug offences following a warrant in Normanton earlier this week.
Faizan Hussain was arrested during a warrant at Becher Street, Normanton, on Wednesday 29 September.
The 27-year-old, of Becher Street, has now been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of criminal property.
After appearing at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court, he was remanded to prison and will next appear at Derby Crown Court on 28 October.
Inspector Keith Chambers said: “Since Wednesday’s warrant in Becher Street I have been contacted by a number community leaders expressing their concern about the way in which the warrant was carried out.
“All warrants of this nature are thoroughly risk assessed to ensure the safety of the public, the person who is being arrested and those officers involved.
“On this occasion it was decided that armed officers were required, and the arrest took place without injury or issue.
“While armed officers are rarely seen on a day-to-day basis, they provide an important role to keep our communities safe and will continue to be used as and when appropriate.”
