A Derby man has been jailed after he repeatedly shoplifted and stole bank cards in the Sinfin area.
George Day, of Osmaston Road, Derby targeted the Asda store in Sinfin and the One Stop store in Stenson Road, Stenson Fields stealing items including alcohol and washing powder.
He also stole bank cards from addresses in Quick Hill Lane, Stenson Fields before using these to make purchases at nearby shops.
Day’s offending spree, which began in June this year, amounted to hundreds of pounds worth of stolen items.
The 40-year-old was arrested on 24 July and charged with eight counts of theft and six counts of fraud.
He was remanded into police custody and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on 25 July where he was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment.
