A wanted man was brought to justice after a cop literally ran through a gate to arrest him.
PCs Joe Stafford and Whitney Holmes-Small spotted the 27-year-old in Stapenhill at 5.20pm on 25 March after intelligence suggested he may have been in the area.
But despite his best efforts of jumping over a fence PC Stafford took the direct route straight through the side gate and quickly had the man arrested for breach of licence.
Sergeant Tarj Nizzer, who leads the policing team in South Derbyshire, said: “It is said that officers will run through walls to protect the public – but on this occasion it was a gate that stood in the way of justice.
“Unfortunately for the offender the gate was no match for PC Stafford and a swift arrest followed.
“As a local policing team, we rely on our communities to help keep our area safe – and this arrest shows how we work closely with the information about his whereabouts coming on the back of intelligence provided by the public.
“If you do have any information about crime in your community then you can report to us, in confidence, at any time using any of the below methods.”
