‘Beat Sweep’ targets community concerns in Chesterfield Town Centre this week
Main article content
Our officers in Chesterfield are hosting a beat sweep this week as they work with partnership agencies in the Chesterfield Town Centre area.
The initiative will take place until next week with the main focus on targeting drugs, human trafficking, serious and acquisitive crime along with hate crime.
It’s also an opportunity to give residents the chance to get to know their local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and partner organisations.
Working alongside Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Community Safety Partnership and licensing departments, our officers will be taking part in a number of events to chat to residents about any concerns, including a Community Clean Up from Crooked Spire to Riverside between 11am and 12pm on Thursday 22 October.
PC Mark Webb of the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Over the next week officers on the Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team will be working alongside representatives from agencies and organisations to help us find out about community concerns and issues, and to target any concerns around anti-social behaviour or crime. We will also be conducting various pro-active operations in the week as well.
“We will also be looking to strengthen ties with local residents, and encouraging people to sign up to Derbyshire Alert which is a free community messaging tool which we can use to keep in touch by sending out alerts about crime, scams and prevention initiatives, but which also allows residents to feedback their thoughts and concerns to us.”
