Officers in our Safer Neighbourhood Team in Willington are inviting residents to a free crime prevention event later this week.
On Saturday, April 13, the team are holding an event at the village hall which will offer free bike marking and equipment to help prevent thefts from vans.
The bike marking scheme works by marking the bike with a unique code linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, we can use this code to ensure the bike is returned to its rightful owner and prove it is stolen.
The marking by www.BikeRegister.com is usually £12 but is being offered free by our Safer Neighbourhood team.
The team are also asking anyone with a van to bring it along to the event and they will provide a free alarm and crime prevention goody bag.
The event is being supported the Safer South Derbyshire Safety Partnership who will be working with the policing team.
Officers will be at the village hall between 10am and 12 midday.
