Officers from one of our Safer Neighbourhood teams in Derby are inviting people to a free event in the city this week.
The event is being held at the Markeaton Craft Village, Markeaton Park, this Friday 23rd August between 10am and 2pm.
Firefighters from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue will also be present as well as our new Drone Unit.
PCSO Linda Ball, from the Allestree Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “There will be lots to see and especially with it being the children’s summer holiday there will be opportunity for them to try on the uniform, climb through police vehicles and meet some of the police and fire officers.
“We will also be giving out crime prevention advice and giving people the opportunity to sign up for Derbyshire Alert, a system that keeps people informed of crime and policing issues in their area.”
The event is part of our ‘Safer Together’ campaign marking new investment in the force that will see 120 new posts created working to improve police presence in neighbourhoods and bolster investigations.
The investment came after consultation with the public revealed they were willing to pay extra in council tax to fund an increase in police resources in neighbourhoods.
