Our Allestree Safer Neighbourhood Team are inviting the residents of the Derby suburb to an event this weekend.
The invite is to the Park Farm Centre on Saturday, 3 August, where officers will be available to discuss policing in the area, give out crime prevention advice and also offer free bike marking.
The scheme works by marking the bike with a unique code linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, we can use this code to ensure the bike is returned to its rightful owner and prove it is stolen.
The marking by www.BikeRegister.com is usually £12 but is being offered free by our Safer Neighbourhood team.
The team will also be available to sign people up to Derbyshire Alert a system that allows residents to keep in touch with crime and policing issues in the area in which they live.
The event is being held in a shop unit that used to be an opticians between 9am and 1pm.
