Officers from our Normanton and Peartree Safer Neighbourhood Team have charged a man with drug offences after searching an address in Mount Carmel Street, Derby.
The action was taken after residents spoke to the team concerned about suspicious activity in the area.
The search was conducted, along with other specialist policing units, on Tuesday, June 18. A substantial amount of suspected Class A drugs were seized along with around £7,000 in cash.
A 25-year-old man, Hydar Abu was arrested and has been now been charged with the offences of: possession with intent to supply class A drugs - namely Heroin and Crack Cocaine, supplying a class A drug – namely Heroin and possession of criminal property – namely cash. He is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court today, Thursday, June 20.
Sgt Tony Owen, who is in charge of Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “This search was a joint effort between the SNT team and our specialist units.
“A substantial amount of class A drugs and cash were found.
“This sends out a clear message to persons involved in drugs that we take these types of offences very seriously and will target those believed responsible.”
