Police in South Derbyshire offer residents free Van and Bike Security
Main article content
Officers from our Safer Neighbourhood teams in South Derbyshire are offering residents free crime prevention advice and security items at an event this week.
The event, part of Derbyshire police’s new ‘Safer Together’ campaign, is being held in the Stenson Fields PH car park, Pilgrims Way, Stenson Fields, between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday, May 30.
Officers from the team will be available to security mark bikes. The scheme works by marking the bike with a unique code linked to the owner’s details on a secure database. If their cycle is stolen and subsequently found, we can use this code to ensure the bike is returned to its rightful owner and prove it is stolen.
The marking by www.BikeRegister.com is usually £12 but is being offered free by our Safer Neighbourhood team.
Van owners are also encouraged to attend in order to receive free van security equipment.
The team will also be able to offer crime prevention advice on a range of other issues as well as encouraging residents to enrol in our Derbyshire alert messaging system that keeps residents updated on crime and advice in their local area.
If you are not able to attend the event but would still like to speak to the team you can contact them using any of the following non-emergency contact methods:
Facebook – send us a private message to /DerbyshireConstabulary
Twitter – direct message our contact centre on @DerPolContact
