Officers from our Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team are issuing advice after a series of thefts from cars.
The action follows 10 cars being broken-in to since last Monday, 2nd September in the Newhall and Midway areas.
Sergeant Dave Walker, who is in charge of the teams: said: “Most of the break-ins are happening whilst the cars are parked overnight and so we would urge owners not to leave valuables in their vehicles and certainly not on show.
“Most of the stolen items have been an easy target for thieves such as cash, sat-navs and other items that are easily seen and removed.
“All our officers are aware in the spike in this type of theft and patrols have been directed accordingly.
“We would also urge anyone with CCTV in the area to check it for anything suspicious or if anyone knows anything about the crimes to make contact with us.”
