Your Safer Neighbourhood Team
The South Derbyshire area spans 131 Square miles and covers the towns of Swadlincote and Melbourne as well as villages and hamlets such as Hilton, Repton, Aston on Trent and Overseal. About a third of the national forest lies within the district as well as many attractions such as Elvaston Country park, Foremark and Staunton Harold reservoir, Calke Abbey a Grade I listed country house and grounds near Ticknall and Melbourne Hall a Georgian style country house previously owned by the 2nd Viscount Melbourne, British Prime Minister from 1835 to 1841. Swadlincote is the principal town with a shopping area and town hall. It is historically significant for being a mining town and for pottery and brick manufacturing
The South Derbyshire Policing Unit is part of Derbyshire Constabulary, built up of a Local policing unit responsible for responding to emergency and non emergency incidents and a Safer Neighbourhood team responsible for an individual area to focus on crime prevention, community engagement, problem solving, working closely with partner agencies and residents to address community issues.

For Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) we will: Conduct high visibility patrols. Work with the Youth Engagement Team to prevent offending and tackle ASB at source. Work with partners to tackle anti social behaviour. Engage with young people through school engagements, raising awareness of anti social behaviour. Gather feedback from and work with the local community. For Serious Acquisitive Crime we will: Continue high visibility and plain clothes patrols in hotspot areas. Share crime prevention advice through social media, community events and Derbyshire Alert. Promote security measures such as tool marking, steering locks and CCTV. Work with partners including local authorities, bordering police forces and national policing teams.
