Today (Monday 9 June 2025), following the outcome of the inquest into the death of 16-year-old Rhianan Rudd in May 2022, Assistant Chief Constable Di Coulson, speaking on behalf of Counter Terrorism Policing in the East Midlands (CTPEM) and Derbyshire Constabulary, said:
Speeding & off-road motor bikes and vehicles around Rowland
1. High Visibility Patrols:
o Deploy Safer Neighbourhood Officers for regular patrols in identified problem areas to deter speeding and illegal off-road activity.
2. Targeted Enforcement:
o Work with Roads Policing Teams and specialist units to enforce speed limits and tackle off-road vehicle misuse.
o Use intelligence to identify offenders and seize vehicles where appropriate.
3. Community Engagement:
o Liaise with residents to gather intelligence and encourage reporting via Derbyshire Constabulary channels.
o Promote road safety and responsible vehicle use through local campaigns.
4. Partnership Working:
o Collaborate with local councils, landowners, and Highways to implement preventative measures (e.g., signage, barriers).
5. Intelligence-Led Approach:
o Review reports and data to identify peak times and hot spots.
o Share updates and enforcement outcomes with the community for reassurance.
