External Disability Reference Group

Derbyshire Constabulary is committed to improving the service it provides to people with a disability

The Disability Reference Group enables us to consult and seek the views of people with a disability and those organisations representing people with disabilities. The group meets at least three times a year.

The aim of the group is:

• To improve our understanding of our communities with disabilities so that we can treat everyone individually and according to their needs
• To use the experience and skills of the group as a mechanism for understanding the impact of our policies and practices on people with a disability
• To provide a forum for people with a disability and organisations representing people with disabilities to raise issues relating to policing services in Derbyshire.

By embracing and valuing equality, diversity, and inclusion we will improve our service delivery, enhance our social responsibility, and increase our understanding of the needs of individuals with a disability within our community.
