Your Safer Neighbourhood Team
I joined Derbyshire Police in 2007 and spent the majority of my career in Derby City, before being promoted as Inspector to Erewash in 2019. As a Constable and Sergeant, I worked in a variety of roles including time spent on response, safer neighbourhood teams and CID, as well as working as a football spotter and being trained in public order policing.
Erewash is a large area with a range of different communities which can present challenges, but also great opportunities, for policing. I would urge everyone in those communities to keep providing us with intelligence to support us in targeting criminals, particularly those who do the most harm, and safeguarding the vulnerable – I want my officers to lock up those who commit offences and blight others’ lives. My team and I will do everything that we can to help keep this a safe place to live, and we will look to use the finite resources that we have in the best possible way. Working closely with partner agencies is a big part of what we do.
I remain proud to be the Erewash Inspector and proud of my teams because I see the great work that they do everyday in the face of some real challenges, often dealing with traumatic events and being willing to put themselves at risk to protect others. Not all of this work can be made public, but we are committed to keeping our local communities involved in the policing of your area.

Priority 1: We will effectively analyse Police data to identify local hot spots for anti-social behaviour. We will use evidence led policing to implement an effective patrol strategy targeting key areas and individuals. We will use a holistic, problem-solving approach to manage identified issues We will robustly enforce and manage key individuals responsible for causing these issues. We will use ASB intervention schemes provided by partner agencies to prevent repeated behaviour by offenders; partners include schools, social care, housing providers, Erewash community safety partnership, Remedi and youth justice services. We will use an incremental approach to and bringing offenders to justice when criminality is identified. We will provide effective support to victims of anti-social behaviour. We will use the national Op Sceptre campaign to educate and inform young people about the dangers and consequences of knife crime. We will communicate to the public about current issues and positive action taken to address this through use of our social media channels and public feedback
Priority 2: We will identify individuals at risk and implement strategies to reduce the issues they are facing. We will build effective relationships with vulnerable individuals identified at risk and use this to ensure an accurate understanding of the issues they are facing. We will work to build their trust and confidence to ensure enhanced reporting so that issues may be addressed through positive action. Alongside police target hardening schemes, we will make referrals to relevant partner agencies to effectively reduce risk from identified criminality. We will robustly enforce against and manage individuals responsible for criminality against our vulnerable residents
Priority 3: Officers will deploy twice each month to key locations on each beat for enforceable speed checks. Members of the team will support Community Speed Watch in their deployments when able and complete follow up visits to offending motorists in line with scheme guidance. We will encourage and facilitate residents to develop new community led Speedwatch Schemes. We will effectively target uninsured drivers through seizure of vehicles and bringing offenders to justice. We will work with roads policing unit and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue to target the ‘Fatal4’ through education and enforcement. The Fatal4 are speeding, drink and drug driving, driving whilst distracted and non-wearing of seat belts. We will work with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue to educate drivers around the ‘Fatal4’. We will deliver road safety inputs to local children through school visits and engagement events .
